Apps are everywhere. It is easy to find cheap solutions that might work, or could work, if you take the time to retrofit them. But the short-term savings in price can end up costing more in the long run with wasted time and overly complicated solutions.

AbleLink Visual Impact is a research-based prompting system that contains specially-designed features for individuals with cognitive disabilities. The software enables people to become truly independent, self-paced and self-directed. With Visual Impact, you have in your hands a powerful tool for acquiring and reinforcing skills necessary for achieving independence across life activity domains including education, employment, independent living, recreation, and transition. Visual Impact can also be used in conjunction with our Endeavor scheduling App. With Visual Impact and Endeavor on the same phone or tablet, time-sensitive reminders can connect to step-by-step instruction without requiring the user to exit or launch apps manually.

Visual Impact provides easy step-by-step multimedia instructions for use by anyone needing support to perform daily tasks of all kinds. Our research has shown that people are more likely to engage in activities, and to complete them consistently, with personalized instruction that they themselves direct.

Make a grilled cheese sandwich, learn important personal skills for applying for a job, or self-administer medication! The type and presentation of content has an unlimited number of applications. Create custom step-by-step task instructions for any activity by adding pictures and videos from your photo library or taking new photos or videos as you build the task steps. You can also record your own verbal instructions to go along with each step or assist the user to record in their own voice. You can edit any multimedia tasks that you have previously created to personalize the learning activities with new pictures, videos, additional steps, or updated audio cues.

After instructional task sets are created with Visual Impact’s Setup Wizard, they are available on the App's home screen for immediate use. Each task contains visual and auditory prompts with an easy-to-navigate interface for self-directed use. Setup uses the phone or tablet’s integrated camera and voice-recording systems to obtain digital images and audio recordings as you go. Multimedia task content is then presented to the end user on a clean home screen interface. You can choose which tasks to show and which ones to hide on the Visual Impact home screen to customize your task library for different users who may be sharing the same device.

An important feature of any program designed to be used by individuals representing a wide range of cognitive abilities is the ability to modify the user interface to meet the specific needs of each person. Visual Impact provides multiple customization options so you can modify the user interface to match the individual's preferences.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GETTING STARTED: To access the Settings area on the App's main screen, you must tap and HOLD the "i" button in the upper right corner for at least 5 seconds. This is by design, in order to prevent accidental taps.

Visual Impact utilizes the AbleLink Instructional Media Standard (AIMS), our award-winning step-by-step multimedia training system. AIMS applies universal design principles to provide accessible multimodal instruction using visual and auditory media.
