About this app

Ever wondered how fit you are (but didn't know who to ask)? This app can help.

This app provides both the original Luc Leger's protocol (1984) as well as the most popular "at-least-60-seconds" alternative.

All you need is
- a pair of running shoes
- a flat 20 meter running pitch
- a modicum of enthusiasm
- this app

Note: Just in case you are wondering, this is NOT a GPS-enabled app; rather, it's a timer app that let's you easily conduct the beep test.

Simple, non-intrusive and highly accurate. No ads, no tracking, no special permissions. It
- prompts you with beeps (or ringtones that you select)
- displays seconds to beep
- displays seconds to next level
- displays distance covered so far (incl. shuttles) and time elapsed
- allows for a 15m or 20m lap
- offers an autostop feature

When you are done, the app will estimate
- VO2_Max
- calorie consumption

... that will
- give you bragging rights (hopefully)
- allow you to compare your fitness to that of the general population
- allow you to chart your progress

Caution : Some side effects have been noticed
- Runner's high. You will find yourself smiling far too much
- Fitter. Regularly done, you will be able to 'run up those stairs'
- Leaner. Darn, gotta buy smaller jeans!

Want more? Want to express appreciation? Get the pro version, which offers:
- Sophisticated group and advanced individual testing options
- Graphical analyses
- Save, export results
- Level & Shuttle voice cues
- And more

It's great, but two major flaws, one is Android fault, the other is the app's fault. I want to listen to music when using this app. It baffles me Android can't let you set diff app volume levels, like Windows volume mixer, but that's not the app's fault. The workaround in-app feature I saw was "Vibrate - Every Shuttle" setting, and with my screen ON it works perfect, but when I turn my screen OFF, the vibrations stop! Make the vibrations work when the screen is off/locked and it's a 5 star app!

Update: Fixed in latest release. Vibrations stop when display off? Grrr, looks like a new Android "feature" (the logic of which escapes me). Doesn't happen on older phones (like my Nexus 5). Will look into it. For now, leave display on, select "Confirm Stop". Btw, "contact the developer" would have been more appropriate.

Does a simple job, and does it very well, with NO ADS! A perfect lockdown companion if you have a garden with enough room to run a distance, I use it for 8 metres, it's fine - it just takes longer before you can no longer keep up. The occasional inspirational quotes are a nice touch. I'm genuinely grateful for this app, thanks.

Not sure why the low reviews. I've been using this app for years, it's the best one out there and it does what it needs to do. There are lots of configurable settings. The default is set to the Luc Leger version, rather than the more commonly used version, which threw me off for a bit, but no big deal, because you can change it. Anyway, good work, solid app!

Luc Leger: He invented the test; I figured he deserves some "respect" :). Back button: Android 12 has removed the soft back button, replacing it with a mid-screen-right-to-left swipe which, after just a short while, seems (to me, at least) a great improvement. There's also an Android setting to get back the standard navigation buttons.
