FAQ

1. Why doesn't Noir recognize my device?

Possible reasons are that your phone or tablet doesn't support USB Host (OTG) or the device you are using isn't a Video Capture Card.
In some rare cases, you may need a USB adapter or USB hub to ensure the capture card works properly.

2. Why is the preview so laggy?

This is often due to the USB version.
If you are using a USB 3.0 capture card, ensure that both the USB data cable and the USB port on your phone or tablet are USB 3.0 compatible.
If you are using a USB 2.0 capture card, ensure the video format is MJPEG and does not exceed 1080p30fps. Note that some capture cards may support up to 1080p50fps.

3. Why did my capture card, which was working fine, suddenly fail to connect?

This issue is often caused by system problems. The simplest and most effective solution is to restart your phone or tablet and try again.

4. Why does my gaming console or Video playback device show a black screen when connected?

This issue is more common among PS5 and PS4 users and is caused by the gaming console enabling HDCP. To resolve it, go to the PS console interface: Settings > System > HDMI, and disable the 'Enable HDCP' option. Note that the PS3 does not allow you to turn off HDCP. Other devices may also automatically enable HDCP when playing video content, which can result in a black screen. Some HDMI splitters can bypass HDCP restrictions and may serve as a workaround.

Works with an older Samsung Tablet but not my Pixel 9 Pro (Because I'm using a ShadowCast 2 capture card). But I can see this coming in handy working in IT if you need to check something and don't want to carry a big screen around with you. Just started testing and that's what I've come up with so far. Will change review if things change. Will buy if I can get my phone to work with it. Still need to test latency. Adding a star for an amazingly responsive dev.

ShadowCast 2 doesn't work with pixel devices without a usb adpater or usb hub. It had been discussed in Genki shadowcast support channel for several times. It's a hardware issue, probably on the shadowcast side, since other MS2130 capture cards I've tested just work fine.

Hi there! I have tested the app on my tablet (Xiaomi device tablet), now there is a problem with it that shows for 1 second and then backs out to the main screen and keeps asking for the permissions, which I have given already the required permissions that it needs and yet does not work, but however I have tested it on my Samsung mobile device and works everything fine on there.

According to your description, the capture card disconnected from the system and reconnected again for some reason which can't be done by app.

Gud enough for a 480p monitor, no recording and only at old fashioned SD DVD screen sizes are usable. Forget 720p and up. To laggy for games with movement, that's all this program promised I guess anyway 😭 Also tried YUY2 mode, I'm using the SDI OUT from my Sony EX1 to SDI IN to HDMI OUT converter box, the USB is plugged into my pixel 5 and the HDMI OUT on the converter box goes to a Sony Bravia for dual viewing (phone and monitor side by side). The TV has less lag, maybe none.

Update: for better performance, you need a usb3.0 capture card with YUY2 support. Because jpeg(mjpeg) decording is quite slow on mobile devices. Does the usb camera's name show up in your home screen? Some recent pixel phones need to be charged to provide enough power required by usb camera.
