PLEASE NOTE: HRV recording using camera is not supported on some Android phones (due to camera or flash setup) - as such you may not be able to use the camera to record your HRV, but you should still be able to use many other features!

Link your Strava for instant insights including training load (TSS) and time in zones. Record your Heart Rate Variability (HRV), sleep, nutrition and well-being metrics in Wattson Blue for readiness feedback.

You can track your HRV using the camera on your phone, or if you have an Oura ring, you can link this to automatically sync your HRV and sleep with Wattson Blue.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is an important indicator of your body’s stress and recovery levels. Tracking your HRV and other metrics, and training according to feedback from Wattson Blue will enable you to challenge yourself, stay motivated and hit your goals.

Wattson Blue uses pro level sports science, developed alongside student athletes at Oxford University, to help athletes (and teams) improve their physical and mental well-being and maximise each athlete's long-term personal performance.

Having used a few HRV and training apps, this one is by far my favourite. It does pretty much everything I want it to do. Admittedly my phone is not up to spec for the PPG-based HRV readings but I do that with another app using a HR strap and use manual entry to input the numbers. The only thing I wish this app had was a desktop version as it's easier to look through data trends and analysis on a larger screen. Otherwise it syncs perfectly with Strava, gives me lots of interesting feedback and works well with few hiccups. Definitely recommend it for any amateur (or elite) athlete wanting to get more serious about training, health, fitness, recovery, and tracking their daily metrics.

The app is very helpful for monitoring trends in training load and recovery. The combination of subjective measures and objective data is useful for getting a holistic view of how training is affecting life, and vice versa. The Wattson Blue team are really responsive to feedback and frequently add new features. I would recommend trying it out and committing to inputting your metrics and syncing training data regularly, to see the full benefits of the app.

I've been using Wattson Blue for a couple of months now. It's an invaluable way to assess one's readiness for training and has enabled me to know when to push myself and when to hold back and prioritise recovery. One small setback: the app's HRV recording system is not compatible with some phones due to the need for a particular placing of the camera and flash units; however, this issue can be overcome if one is using the Oura ring to track HRV. Overall a very good app.
