About this app

MULTICOLOR ANIMATED BARCODE BROADCASTER
The Screencode app lets you privately share text and files through your screen in a fun way with nearby friends, without any connectivity. The procedure is traceless and very secure. The Screencode receiver launches the Screencode scanner to read and extract the content being sent by the Screencode sender or broadcaster. Very simple to use!

A Screencode is similar to a barcode or QR code, but is densely packed, multicolor and animated, and therefore contains much more information. It can be used to transfer data between devices without any carrier, mobile network, wifi, bluetooth, nfc or similar technology.

KEY FEATURES
• Transferring data offline
• Instant sharing with no setup required
• Share text and files of all types
• Very secure, anonymous and traceless
• Fun and game like procedure of transferring data
• Training will greatly increase transfer speeds

Note that transferring data as Screencode results in relatively slow transfer speeds. Smaller files and documents are usually very quick. Photos will after some training be transferred in less than a minute. Plain text is almost instant. But if you need to transfer larger files, you probably need another solution - or lots of patience. :)

HOW TO GET STARTED
Simply share any file or text from your favorite app and select "Screencode" in the share sheet to start sending or broadcasting to a Screencode receiver. Nothing else required.
The Screencode receiver then launches the Screencode app on the receiving device to start the Screencode scanner and tries to fit the sending screen within the aiming guide. That's pretty much it. Adjust the distance and angles to maximize the indicated signal strength.

You can find more information on how to send and receive text and files in the built in user guide.
Oh, and don't forget to train - to reach even higher transfer speeds!

Good luck and happy Screencoding!

Definitely an A+ for idea and effort, but it's more a technical proof of concept than a practical application, as even if one can get over camera recognition issues (especially for older cameras) the byte transmission rates are always going to be far too slow to be usable and the alternatives out there are numerous and significantly faster and more reliable. Using this approach to transferring data is realistically only viable for very small amounts, that can be encoded in the QR format. Still, from a developer's perspective it's a really nice idea.

Thanks for your review and thoughts! Transmission rates can still be improved (quicker screen refresh rates, camera frame rates, smarter compression, user guidance etc), but you're right in that this concept does have its limitations. We do however find it very useful for sharing longer chunks of text, photos and smaller documents and other files.

Fantastic to see!!😊😊 But the main point covers the positive ratings. The mobiles with curve edge can't send files, as the code can't be seen properly.. This irritates me a lot! So please work on it!!🙏🙏

Thanks a lot for your review and feedback! We aim to have a solution where you can adjust the active code window boundaries to match whatever is appropriate for your personal device. Avoiding cracks in the screen or too curved edges and so on.

It's bad. Very slow transfer. And Almost impossible to detect the other phone . And when i finally got the file it was corrupted.

This concept does have some clear limitations and transferring data via screens will take some training to master. Avoiding bright environments and fine tuning the transfer speed setting is key to maximizing data throughput. If the source file was not corrupt, this sounds like a bug we'd like to fix - please provide more info on how to recreate.
