About this app

Onkyo makes simple, great-sounding whole-home wireless audio systems for Android phones and tablets. Using DTS's breakthrough Play-Fi(R) technology, you can stream your favorite tunes over Wi-Fi right from the app to Onkyo Speaker(s) and/or Onkyo Receiver(s) connected to your existing stereo system. It's a huge step up from Bluetooth - the audio quality is outstanding, and you can enjoy music from your phone in one room, or all your rooms, anytime.

The app offers a wide range of built-in streaming options: play anything from your music library, enjoy songs from DLNA servers on your home network.

Please also note that the Onkyo Music Control App is companion software to audio products enabled with Play-Fi technology. It is not intended as a stand-alone audio player.

App does not appear to work anymore, stuck on loading screen with the word 'Starting...' Interestingly, there's been no response to any of these comments from Onkyo. The app itself isn't too bad (no frills) but when using DTS or Chromecast to an Onkyo TX-NR676E E7196E home theatre amp, audio continually drops out then stops and the app is no longer able to discover the Onkyo amp again! Guess Onkyo should spend more time fixing these basic flaws and updating firmware...

Play-fi doesn't keep its promises. The app disconnect continuously (no battery saving on, on the device used to run it), making it impossible to even finish one album. Plenty of music services are not compatible across speakers, depending on the brand. The GUI is far from being captivating. À disappointment now that I spent money to buy a dts play-fi speaker...

I spent a lot of money on my Onkyo CR-N775D. Which is great if you use it as as a stand alone device. This app, however is not fit for purpose. Integration with third party streaming services was the man reason I purchased the unit. I may as well stayed with my 20 yo system. I get a better result from a 3rd party app, which alas is no longer updated, or even available on the app store.
