About this app

Don't Count Sheep, Shuffle Your Thoughts to Sleep.

LifeHacker calls mySleepButton®, "surprisingly effective". The NY Times, The Guardian, Forbes Magazine, Government of Canada, The BC Medical Journal online, and many others have featured mySleepButton. Popular Science says it is "Just better". CoolTools (KK.org) says it "just knocks me out".

The purpose of mySleepButton is to help you fall asleep. And to return to sleep. It's easy: Just push the "Put Me to Sleep" button and imagine the rich variety of images that mySleepButton prompts you to visualize. This dreamy stream of images may distract you from your worries and put you in a state that is conducive to sleep. This is known as "the cognitive shuffle", because it involves shuffling your thoughts.

mySleepButton offers three different cognitive shuffle modes. You can imagine a variety of "simple things" (like a river, mountain and stars), scenes (like walking on a trail, or watching someone play guitar), and even imagine yourself drawing things. It's a surprisingly pleasant way to fall asleep.

Getting sufficient sleep can improve your cognitive productivity and overall well-being. So why not try mySleepButton?

mySleepButton uses both recorded human voice packs and synthetic voice packs. The synthetic packs use Android's built-in or installed Text-to-Speech function, which can be customized in various ways, including changing the voice between female and male. See https://mysleepbutton.com/support/ for details.

Updates to the built-in packs are an additional charge (lowest charge next to zero that Google Play allows).

Helpful, but I agree with another commenter that the "a/an" before many words was distracting. I'm also having an issue where sometimes the app seems to freeze--for whatever reason there will be a much longer gap between words, and often it will play two words at once after the freeze, which is doubly distracting. Also, how big is this word list? I've used this app only about five times, and I'm already tired of thinking about "parliament."

Sorry for the delayed response. Problems with word spacing and overlap have been resolved in version 1.0.61. The Simple Things word list has more than 1000 entries. Contact: support@cogsciapps.com.

I love the idea of this app and really enjoyed it for the 30 seconds i could use it. But each time my screen times out the app stops, making it useless. I set my phone battery settings to never put this app to sleep but that did not change anything. I hope they fix this issue because i think this is brilliant idea.

Thank you for your feedback. Is there any other apps having the same problem? You might want to try: 1) Restart phone as other apps can interfere with mySleepButton. 2) You might want to go to Settings->Apps->MySleepButton->Battery and make sure Allow Background Activity is enabled. If the problem persists, please contact support@cogsciapps.com.

Amazing customer service! The app worked for me until the Nov 8 update so I contacted customer service. They responded almost immediately (and on the weekend). Over a number of emails they suggested a lot of things for me to try. They ended up fixing the bugs after a couple new updates. I am super impressed and am happy with my free version, but I'm going to purchase the upgrade just as a thank you.
