1. Fare capping status feature
-View your LA Metro fare capping progress in “Card Info.”
2. Promo code enhancement
- Add a new virtual card to your phone and redeem a promo code in one transaction.
- Supports LA Metro’s GoPass program participants and students using Long Beach Transit.
3. Zero-dollar checkout enhancement
- When you purchase a discounted fare product or redeem a promo code and the shopping cart net total is $0, no payment method is required to check out.

Ratings and reviews

This app is just horrible. So full of glitches and bugs. When I installed it, I started to get random notification noises, but there were no notifications. Also my screen would flash white and the TAP LA app would pop up for some random reason. Super annoying. Was difficult to add funds to my virtual TAP card. It would not scan my credit card, and it was not letting me add a card. Frustrating. Finally got it to work. After I took my ride, I uninstalled it and the random issues stopped.

It stopped working for no reason. Luckily the bus driver let me get on. Customer support said I need to get the plastic card, which is mind blogging. I have a Pixel 7 with everything updated and I use NFC all the time to pay. If the app can't support a modern phone, it's completely useless. I liked the app because I don't use public transportation often but would always have the app handy in case I did. This is a waste of tax payer money.

I've been frustrated with tap. It was all good until 3months ago where the app started becoming faulty with the fare. Just to find out it's causing issues because I had two Student tap cards previous aside from the original tap card that I actually use. (From what customer service said) just for them to tell me I need to uninstall & reinstall the app and get a new tap card and request a transfer for the fare I already do have on the card I've been trying to use. Which I'm skeptical to do now. 👎
