I've always wanted to learn Spanish and Japanese. This allows me to go at my own pace. Gives me confidence with what I already know, and reinforces the basics. I currently am learning on my own and is the perfect thing I to give me feedback. But this is supplemental. Ustedes tienen que practicar con otro la gente, y estudia de libros. Remember everyone learns at they're own speed. It gets annoying getting the the same stuff drilled in my head. But after a month it sticks.
Poor app, good approach The way this app tries to help you learn is a good one. However there is little chance of me subscribing / making an in-app purchase as this app is so evidently poor. The interface does not match the overall phone operating system look and feel, in fact this app feels more like something out of the late 1990s.
Worth every penny!! I like to do them in the privacy of my own home because, let's face it, no one wants to order a venti soy 2 pump frappa something at starbucks and have you yell "NEIN!" into your ohone while wearing headphones. That's assuming you too are learning German...but seriously lessons are quick and very good at drilling info into you without making is seem like a chore. The verbal repetition drills are key!! Excellent app!
While I like the overall concept and teaching method, there is no explanation behind some things. Of course when they show the word pomme and then show an apple I can figure it out but when it gets to Grammer and the different forms on the same word, it does not tell you why you some times do it one way over the other. I am a decently smart guy and have a hard time figuring it out. It would be easy for them to have it tell you why something is wrong if it is.
Excellent App The Rosetta Stone app is simple, easy to use, and integrates seamlessly with your progress on other devices. It's great for me because I can just whip out my cell phone on the bus or train and continue my language learning, instead of waiting for the next chance I have to sit down at a computer. A couple of things that would help it improve: 1) There ought to be a way to disable the voice recognition/pronunciation questions. 2) The app takes a long time to load and sometimes crashes.
Immersive language learning When I found out I would be moving to Tokyo, I bought this app right away. I have used this app and Kanji Study for two months. I'm now able to read English words written in katakana, understand some of the common signs, and have basic interaction with shop and restaurant staff. The listening games are especially helpful. I wish more people used the app so that I could have conversations and play multiplayer games.
