It's the best method I've tried yet. For years I've been on and off with trying to advance my intermediate skills in Spanish. Now I feel that I'm finally advancing after just a few months of rosetta stone lessons. I got much more out it in a few months. Then the from the 4 college courses I took from Intermediate 1-2 to composition and conversation, and felt stuck on intermediate level . After about 3 months of Rosetta stone I feel like I'm effortlessly advancing. For example my listening skills seemed to improve and feel that I can speak with a little more confidence I still need more improvement, but I don't feel stuck anymore. :).
This is wonderful for refreshing those who already have bare bones learning like I did. From lesson one they do the Rosetta Stone thing and throw you into the fire with nothing to go off of but context. However if this language is based entirely off a different "alphabet" I feel that should be the first lesson. If I didn't know Hiragana already before starting the first Japanese lesson I would have been absolutely lost.
Using Rosetta Stone is FUN! I have never enjoyed learning languages until using Rosetta Stone. Now I look forward to it and actually want to learn additional languages. I love the process by which the language is introduced. I can actually see my progress as I grapple with new exercises, reviews, and other fun. I like the app, but sometimes the directions for the activity are unclear. (However, I find this to be the case with the computer program as well. Unfortunately it means that until you understand what the task is asking, you have to be content with just guessing and getting answers won't by default. The perfectionist in me doesn't like this.) The speaking capability works better for me on the app than on the computer. I'm not sure if internet is required to access this app. But I like it a lot!
This app is AMAZING! I just started learning today and I already feel like I know the language. It helps you practice pronunciation and helps you get used to hearing someone else say it. Not only does the app help you to learn quickly, but it is also a lot if fun. If you're wanting to learn a new language this app is for you!
The app is a companion for pre-purchased Rosetta Stone access. This won't be of use to you if you don't purchase access. Heads up for anyone who is unaware. The standard formats and repetition cycles are helpful in learning and retaining a language. In the case of languages with regional dialects don't expect to be given regional options. I get random speech recognition failures when speaking. Not that the app thinks I've said something incorrectly, but that the audio on random occasions is just not being picked up. Overall the app is convenient and helpful.
I am not a linguist but I think this app is really well done. I have not had it long but feel like I'm learning quickly. I also thought it was pretty clever how they use pictures. That way they don't have to have a program for teaching English speaking people to speak Spanish, then another for French speaking people to learn the same etc. They can just a program for each language.
Improves stability of the app.
