About this app
Point your phone at the sky and AstroGaze shows what's in front of you: stars, planets, constellations, nebulae and galaxies. A guide arrow leads you to any target you pick.
LIVE SKY MAP
• The sky above your observing spot right now — or at any other moment: scrub through time and watch Jupiter rise or the Moon set.
• Compass mode: turn your phone and the sky turns with it.
• The Milky Way, phases of the Moon, Venus and Mercury, galaxies drawn with their true shape and tilt.
AUGMENTED REALITY
• The sky is drawn over the live camera view: aim at the real stars.
• Pick a target and the guide arrow takes you there along the shortest arc.
• Works without the camera too — on a dark background.
FOR BINOCULAR AND TELESCOPE OBSERVERS
• 436 objects with detailed cards: rise and set times, altitude, best time to observe.
• All 110 Messier objects and 88 constellations.
• A faint-star layer down to 9th magnitude — tens of thousands of stars: when you zoom in, the map shows the same star-hopping paths as your telescope finder.
• Zoom up to 128×: a field of view like a finder scope or even an eyepiece.
WORKS ANYWHERE
• Fully offline: the catalogs ship with the app and planetary positions are computed on the device by a precise astronomy engine.
• No Google services and no account required.
• About 150 preset locations — from big cities to the observatories of the Atacama: pick coordinates manually, location permission is optional.
• A dark interface that won't ruin your night vision.
• Eight interface languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Indonesian, German, French and Russian — including the reference pages for every object.
