Bad North is a charming but brutal real-time tactics roguelite. Defend your idyllic island kingdom against a horde of Viking invaders, as you lead the desperate exodus of your people. It’s charmingly brutal, with beautiful procedurally-generated islands and adorable soldiers juxtaposed against the blood-stained realities of war. You control the broad strokes of the battle, giving high level commands to your soldiers who try their best to carry them out in the heat of the moment. It’s accessibly deep, with simple player inputs masking a dynamic combat simulation that make it inviting to new players while challenging veterans.

Keep fighting, warriors. Not for power or riches or glory, but for hope of peace to come once again in the harsh lands of the Bad North.

Ratings and reviews

There are very few good games for mobile. This is an amazing game. Great, cute artstyle and sound design. Game play has layers of complexity that you can take time to get to know, or ignore and hope for the best. Pacing is phenomenal, and difficulty is fine tuned. The gameplay is snappy, rewarding, entrancing, and looks so cool! A must try!

From the gameplay point of view, this game is flawless. Love the artstyle and strategy mechanics. However, it is extremely frustrating when you are having s good run, make it to a checkpoint and then come back a day later just to see that all your progress is gone. Very annoying bug and if fixed I would definitely give 5 stars.

The game took me about 5 hours to finish, which felt about right for this game. The game makes you think and be tactical to make your troops effective and keep them safe. There are multiple difficulty options so it should be too easy/hard for most people. My only suggestion to the devs would be to perhaps have the availability to play through the game again with your upgraded troops at a harder difficulty. Overall I really enjoyed it, and it was the best mobile game I've played in about a year.
