About this app

Tracker Detect looks for item trackers that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network. These item trackers include AirTag and compatible devices from other companies. If you think someone is using AirTag or another device to track your location, you can scan to try to find it.

Enough to make you paranoid. Each scan detects any unknown tag as new and doesn't seem to remember the same tag between scans, extending that 10 min timer each time you manually rescan. If someone could modify a tag to transmit in intervals of more than 10 minutes, you'd never be able to find it. App picks up any tag nearby (~100m), so lots show up in the city, on a busy road, or in a dense housing area.

I'm sorry, but from what I gather, this app seems pointless. Lemme tell you why. 1, it doesn't continuously run in the background even by option, so you have to constantly check. 2, from what one screen says, it doesn't pick up on air tags until 15 minutes after it's out of Bluetooth range of owner's device. Pretty sure by that time it's pointless and too late. Apple might have had good intention, but this was absolutely a horrible execution.

Was hoping for an option to have this running in the background. If I'm already under the impression an Apple tag is around me that shouldn't be, I probably don't need to take that moment to open an app to scan and confirm suspicions. I thought it would scanning in the background, the way it seems it does for Apple. At least the option for continual scanning, for the malignant use of a tracking device, would be much more helpful. Do better Apple.
