About this app

Ceramic Tide is a sea drawn in glaze. Cobalt, celadon and ivory waves curl across the dial with a fine crackle in every surface, and in a black window at the top right a red sun goes down over the water. Two ivory hands turn over the waves, and the time is also printed in large serif figures beside the sunset, so you can read it either way.

WHAT IS ON THE DIAL

- Analog hours and minutes, with a slim coral seconds hand you can switch on
- The same time in large serif figures, in 24-hour or 12-hour form
- The weekday and the date under the figures, in your watch's language
- The battery percentage at four o'clock
- Four complications and two app shortcut slots

FOUR COMPLICATIONS AND TWO APP SHORTCUT SLOTS

Press and hold the dial and tap Customize. Out of the box the four complications show:

- Top: the weather. On a Galaxy watch it arrives showing Samsung Weather. On other watches it arrives showing sunrise and sunset, and you can point it at any weather app you have.
- Left: how many notifications you have not read yet.
- Lower left: your latest heart rate.
- Bottom: your step count.

Point any of them at another source and it follows. Each one takes short text with the provider's icon, a ranged value shown as its number, or an icon on its own, and any of them can be left empty.

The two small round areas either side of the sunset, just above the time, are app shortcut slots. They start empty and draw nothing; give one an app and a single tap opens it from the dial.

The battery reading is not a complication and cannot be reassigned. It always shows this watch's own battery.

WEATHER

The weather complication shows what your watch's weather app knows. If the temperature does not appear, open the weather app on the watch once and let it find your location. The face itself asks for no permissions.

YOUR CHOICES IN CUSTOMIZE

- 12-hour time: on, and the figures switch to 12-hour with a small AM or PM above them. Off, you get 24-hour time.
- Second hand: off by default, for a calmer dial. Switch it on and a thin coral hand sweeps the waves.

ALWAYS-ON

The always-on screen drops the glaze, the hands and every complication. What stays lit is the hour and the minute in large figures, one above the other, the weekday and a faint ring, on black. The always-on figures are always 24-hour.

GOOD TO KNOW

The Customize labels are in English in every language. There is no companion phone app, no account, no ads and no subscription.

SETTING IT UP

Buy it on your phone, then open the Play Store on your watch, where it is waiting in your library. Press and hold your current face, swipe to Ceramic Tide and tap Customize.
