About this app

AncestorOS is genealogy that travels with you. Your family tree, the stories behind it, and the research that holds it together - on the phone in your hand and the computer on your desk, always the same records.

BUILD THE TREE
- Add people and connect them as parents, children, spouses and siblings
- A pan-and-zoom family tree that redraws itself as you go
- A five-generation fan chart, with gaps left visible where the research still has to go
- Work out how any two people are related, however distant the cousin

KEEP THE STORIES
- Write memories: what someone was like, not only when they were born
- Tag the people who were there
- A timeline of events across the whole tree
- Birthday and anniversary reminders, so you notice before the day rather than after it

- A timer you can start in the reading room and stop when you leave

CAREFUL WITH LIVING PEOPLE
Living relatives are treated differently from ancestors. Anyone who might still be alive is held back from a shared tree or an export unless you say otherwise, and the app tells you how many that is rather than leaving you to guess.

ONE ACCOUNT, EVERY DEVICE
Everything you do here appears on ancestoros.com, and the other way round. Accounts and subscriptions are set up on the web; sign in here and your tree is already waiting.

Some things still live on the web for now, and the app links you straight to them: GEDCOM import and export, DNA tools, tree sharing, and building reports.
