About this app

Welcome to the Mozart city of Augsburg.
The app "Mozart in Augsburg" leads to 17 stations in the life of Leopold and W.A. Mozart and shows the special connection the Mozart family has to the city of Augsburg.

Augsburg - the hometown of the Mozarts
The Mozarts are a Swabian family whose most famous member was the composer Wolfgang Amadé Mozart. His father Leopold Mozart, born in Augsburg in 1719, was the discoverer, sole educator, music teacher and 'manager' of Wolfgang Amadé. In Augsburg Leopold received his education and the musical training that he passed on to his son.

Wolfgang Amadé was in his hometown five times (1763, 1766, 1777, 1781 and 1790). In 1777 he had his first erotic adventure here during a two-week stay with his Augsburg cousin Maria Anna Thekla Mozart. This is how Mozart's famous hearty "Bäsle Letters" were written.

The tour begins in the Domviertel with the birthplace of Leopold Mozart, the father of Wolfgang Amadé. Other stops include the cathedral, the Augsburg Renaissance town hall with the Golden Hall, the Perlach Tower or the St. Ulrich and Afra basilica.

Entertaining dialogues with several speakers, supplemented by images, videos and augmented reality sequences, provide information at the individual stations on the sights and the relationship to the Mozarts.

With the app, you can not only be navigated to the individual locations, but also overlay the current viewing angle with videos and images using augmented reality (AR). This is where you meet the "virtual Bäsle" who reports on his experiences with Wolfgang Amadé.

"Maxi times Mozart"
Maximum Mozart can be discovered in Augsburg with the Mozart in Augsburg app. First of all, there is at least as much Mozart to discover in Augsburg as there is in Vienna and Salzburg. Second, it is the well-known cabaret artist Maximilian (“Maxi”) Schafroth who lends Wolfgang Amadè the voice.

Let yourself be surprised!
