This is a Plugin for Total Commander for Android!
It does not work standalone!

This plugin supports connections by FTP and FTPS (secure FTP over SSL). For SFTP (file transfer over SSH secure shell), there is a separate plugin available now:

Does the plug-in maintains, temporarily at least (e.g. as long as a session is alive) a transfert log of the control socket / command channel? Because I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem I have with a client (also on Android, related to the failure to establish a secondary connection under FTPS, right after the PASV command), and I think neither provides any, meaning I'll have to program a sort of proxy to find out what's happening

Great plugin, great app!

It's mostly fine. Most problems people have with this are caused by Android terminating long lasting connections or other battery saving shite. I am missing a viewable FTP log for the few occasions where the problem isn't obvious, but I've gone through various FTP clients over a decade and always came back to this.
