The Google Gemini app is an AI assistant that can help supercharge your creativity and productivity.

This official app is free. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:

- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarize and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Generate images on the fly
- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights

If you have access to Gemini Advanced it will be right here in the Gemini app.

The Gemini app is now live in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more languages. See the full list of supported languages and countries here:

If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

I really like the app. I really enjoyed using it, and it's been helpful in a lot of ways. But today, out of nowhere (7/18/24), the voice for my app changed. And I have no controls. They change it back. The male voice was actually very supportive. Sounding, i'm comforting. This new female voice sounds like it's extremely annoyed to talk to me or respond. While different voice options is a nice idea. I would like the ability to change back if I didn't like the voice I got.

Love the progress and hoping for more range soon. Already planned a great fishing trip this fall. Only gripe is the horrible male voice, yuck. I prefer some more options and maybe stick with the female assistant voice model. Update: After using Gemini for a week, it does have some nice potential. But for me, not being able to set tasks and reminders with my lock screen on is a deal breaker for me. I have to switch back to the Google Assistant until Gemini can be fixed.

As of now, I don't have much use for this assistant, it definitely has potential to be a great assistant app but without voice options and it really cannot perform many, many simple tasks that are detrimental such as "hands free" texting while driving, while I'm working and I need to make a call or send a text I can't just say "Hey Gemini" call ... It does a fantastic job of research and searching for anything on the Web. It most definitely has some improvements to come. I'll try it again soon.
