Oh this is so much cheaper than audible. I could only get one book a month from them and you have to pay. Now they are advertising on television! This is free from your local library just in case they don't own a book you want to hear. They also have movies a ND e-books
Good selection of material. However the app is really just adequate, esp. for music. Doesn't pause in response to head phone switches (tried with two different head phones), doesn't show track info over Bluetooth. Also, the io9 recommended music panel always shows soundtracks and musicals, which isn't what I listen to normally. However, I can find and play music and videos and it can cast to my Chromecast with minimal fuss, so it does get the job done, just not as elegantly as some other apps. Update: Track info is now being displayed in my car as of the latest release. I have also figured out how to tweak the recommendations,, though it isn't especially easy or elegant. However, fixing the Bluetooth connectivity is enough for me to bump the rating to a 4.
I love this app, when it works. Recently the app has stopped working for me and won't allow me to borrow books. It does give me an error message and when contacting customer support, I'm only told to update my app. Google Play says my app is up to date, yet it still doesn't work. . .
It's a good app I mainly use it for audiobooks but sadly they don't update books that often. Tried to catch up on a series that I like and they only had up to a book that was released a few years back. If they updated that I would gladly give it a higher rating
The only issue I have is that it frequently loses my place in my audio books. I know this has to do with my combination of wifi/cell connectivity and one working while the other isn't and the app trying to connect online, but this is for offline content. Kinda frustrating
Pretty pathetic. No easy directions. Keeps losing its place, hit and miss how to get back to place, if I kept track of chapter and page. Generally gives impression of noone having really tried it out. I am captive audience, only option to using our public library online. I use Kindle and Nook with no problem, so it can be done.
Fixed offline issues so that it works this time for those of you who had trouble connecting. Yay connection!
Upgraded Bluetooth connectivity and headset controls for audio playback. Yay for a better listening experience!
Upgraded notification controls for all the Oreo lovers out there. Sweet, like your new favorite Android release.
