I love the capabilities of this app and would give it five stars based on what it should be able to do. Downloading brand new soundtracks is great. But there are two problems. One is that it crashes all of the time. This seems to be when I go out of a coverage area, even if I have the album downloaded. The other major missing feature is Android Auto compatibility. Each of those would earn a star and make this a Five Start app.
Update: A lot of the bugs I encountered when I first used the app are gone. I use hoopla daily for reading comics and listening to audiobooks, and I'm extremely happy with it. Easy to use, broad and desirable content, personalized recommendations ... Hoopla is great. Original: For the third time, I'm scrubbing through an audiobook to get back to my place. This is a really frustrating user experience. The audio player is far inferior to Overdrive's player, which itself isn't great. But for free, I shouldn't expect much.
I use this to listen to digitally-borrowed library audiobooks. It's a great app when it works, but I've had multiple books that just won't play again when I try to start from where I left off. The play button does nothing, the timer doesn't move, and the audio is frozen. I use up my two "borrows" a month without even getting to finish the books. It's kind of waste to have to borrow them again (using all of the next month's credits) just to hear the endings.
Great way to be able to borrpe ebooks from a local library. My only complaint is that I live in Mobile Alabama and thee aren't very many popular books for youth adult to choose from. There's only a limited amount for young adults to read. Wish they had Cassandra Claire books on this app.
Great selection, well kept secret! Works off your library card. As good as streaming media services. I mostly stream albums, wish I could keep them longer but guess that has to do more with local library agreement than with hoopla itself.
Crashes ALL of the time. When working, often skips like an old vinyl record. Stop/start rarely works with any headset. These problems have been present since I started using Hoopla. No effort seems to have been made to fix them. Good content but a VERY frustrating app.
We fixed some bugs in the eReader.
We added the ability to rate titles within the app. Now you can give Birdemic 2 that 5 star review!
On a serious note, we added a dyslexic font to our ebooks.
