MoBY is the free mobility app for all of Bavaria. It is the personal travel companion for all public transport users. Plan trips, book tickets, find out about delays, report connection requests: MoBY knows almost all connections in Bavaria and beyond, whether in the city or in the country, whether by train, subway or S-Bahn, bus, tram and sharing providers (e-scooters, rental bikes, etc.) or with the on-call bus.
The app is operated by the Bavarian Railway Company (BEG) on behalf of the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Construction and Transport. MoBY's range of functions is constantly evolving, and new digital services are constantly being added. For the passenger this means: information, planning, booking and payment – all in one app and always up to date.
Essential scope of services
Timetable information: MoBY provides address-specific door-to-door connections by train, bus and additional mobility offers such as sharing and on-demand services. The app knows about 45,000 Bavarian train and bus stops and provides information about departures and arrivals at the stop selected by the user or in its surroundings - usually based on real-time data that takes potential delays or cancellations into account. The current positions of most means of transport can be followed live via a map. Frequently used connections can be saved as favorites and accessed with one click.
Tickets: MoBY users can book and pay for the Germany ticket and the Bavarian discount ticket for trainees, students and volunteers via the app. Step by step, many more ticket offers are being added, in the current update for example the popular Bayern ticket day/night and a large part of the MVV ticket range.
Pre-registration of connection: Travelers can pre-register connection requests via MoBY for travel connections with regional trains. For passengers, all it takes is one click in the app to initiate the connection request. A few minutes later they receive a message on their cell phone asking whether the train can wait at the transfer station.
