Get family safety services — Roadside Assistance, help in a crash, family locator and Emergency Services — with the OnStar Guardian® app. No matter where you are, we're with you and your family – in any vehicle, on your motorcycle, even through your home’s smart speaker. Eligible OnStar Members receive the OnStar Guardian app as part of their plan. If you don’t own a GM vehicle, you can try it for up to 3 months on us, and after that, it’s only $15 a month. Plus, you can share the app with up to 7 friends or family members at no additional cost.


Mobile Crash Response
• Crash detection that can send for help automatically

Roadside Assistance

• Togetherness when you're apart. The family locator that lets you share and save real-time locations, view a live map, even send departure and arrival notifications

Emergency Services
• Help when it's needed. The red Emergency button provides priority access to an OnStar Emergency Advisor 24/7
• Get specially trained assistance with medical issues, severe weather and more — all while our Advisors send First Responders to your exact location

The OnStar Guardian skill for Amazon Alexa
• Get Emergency Services from an OnStar Advisor — right in your home
• Ask for help right from your compatible Amazon Alexa-enabled device
• Link OnStar Guardian with your Amazon account to enable the skill

Eligible customers who associate an approved payment method with their account and authorize recurring payments for their service plan within 30 days of activating their 1-month OnStar Guardian trial will receive 2 additional months of that plan at no additional charge. At the end of your trial and the first 2 months of your plan, OnStar will automatically bill the payment method on file monthly at then-current standard monthly rates. Customers with a preexisting OnStar or Connected Services plan are excluded from this offer. Plans may be cancelled at any time by pushing the blue OnStar button or calling 1.888.466.7827. May not be combined with other offers or retroactively applied. One-time redemption of offer per service plan or vehicle, as applicable. Offer is subject to change.

Location Status services designed to locate compatible smartphones with Location Services permission enabled. Functionality varies by mobile device and plan. Data rates may apply. Terms and limitations apply.

Up to seven additional individuals can be added to the “My Family” section within the app.

The concept is good but the tracking functionality leaves a lot to be desired. It's generally hit and miss and you have to constantly click on the person for updated tracking info. The live following doesn't work most of the time. Even clicking on the person usually only has a 40 to 50% success rate of providing current information.

I hope that they rethink getting rid of OnStar& replacing it with this because this app never gives correct location info & not sure how a phone can detect an accident especially if your phone is securely in a pocket and your car doesn't flip but if the location can't be detected correctly this will not do any good if someone needs an ambulance and the app can't give the correct location. I can't track my family when it constantly says they are at home and I know they are not. I don't feel safe.

Issues! The location feature has never worked properly and the map now does not show my husband moving. I have contacted Onstar numerous times over the past 6 months with no fix. They keep telling me to do the same thing over and over (uninstall and reinstall, check permissions) which doesn't fix it. The customer service is atrocious. We keep going around in circles with no solution. To the response below, I have the updated app and the uninstall, reinstall still doesn't work. I give up!
