Get family safety services — Roadside Assistance, help in a crash, family locator and Emergency Services — with the OnStar Guardian® app. No matter where you are, we're with you and your family – in any vehicle, even on your motorcycle. Eligible OnStar Members receive the OnStar Guardian app as part of their plan. A standalone plan is only $15 a month. Plus, you can share the app with up to 7 friends or family members at no additional cost.

Roadside services provided by third-party providers. Roadside services are for passenger vehicles (cars and trucks) and motorcycles only. Limitations and restrictions apply. Towing services can be used four times per year then additional charges apply. Additional charges apply to tire changes when a spare tire is not provided.  

Up to seven additional individuals can be added to the “My Family” section within the app.

Ratings and reviews

I have had OnStar for both my vehicles for years so when they launched this as a free add on service I was interested. I decided to wait for the bugs to get worked out. I installed the app 3 days ago. at first look I was happy and though all was good. I didn't realize how wrong I could be. I worked for about 12 hours and crashed. The app crashes immediately after singing in. I have cleared cache, deleted app data, uninstall and reinstall and restarted my phone to no avail. Samsung S24 Ultra.

I'm not sure what happened, but when I would open the app it would take me to the app info and not the map. Uninstalled and then reinstalled. Went to reset password cause I couldn't remember the original and keeps give me an error that the password didn't meet their requirements. I tried so many different ones and nothing worked. Took a fairly decent app and ruined it some how.

The idea behind this is good, but it cannot be configured to allow only limited access. I do not want it constantly running in the background or always accessing my information. We need to be able to select when we want it to be on and have access. Also, during setup, it keeps going forward when I want to backtrack and check something. Okay. I tried using it. First time in 4 years to need service and they can't locate my account! Pure garbage!
