Car Scanner is a vehicle / car performance / trip computer / diagnostics tool and scanner that uses an OBD II Wi-Fi or Bluetooth adapter to connect to your OBD2 engine management / ECU.
Car Scanner gives you a bunch of unique features:

The app requires a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth or Bluetooth 4.0 (Bluetooth LE) OBD2 ELM327 compatible adapter (device) to work. ELM327 devices plugs into the diagnostics socket in the car and gives your phone access to car diagnostics.
Recommended adapters brands: OBDLink, Kiwi 3, V-Gate, Carista, LELink, Veepeak.
If you buy one of the cheap china OBD2 ELM327 adapters from ebay / amazon, then make sure it’s not marked as v.2.1. This adapters are supported, but they have lot’s of bugs.

PLEASE NOTE: Vehicle ECUs vary in the amount of sensors supported. This app can’t show you something, that is not provided by your car.

Attention "bad" adapters! We faced the problem, that some adapters (often cheep Chinese clones), can’t connect to the smartphone or the car. Some of them can even make your car engine work unstable, often lost connection, increase time lag when reading data.
So, we recommend you to use genuine ELM327 or recommended adapter brands.

Ratings and reviews

It's a good app for what it does. I had some difficulty connecting initially with Veepeak but after trying multiple times following the instructions it worked. Now it connects pretty fast. I use it mostly for the live data as it exceeds the limitations of my handheld scanner. My only gripe is that I can't see the full list of PIDs. I was hoping specifically to see the Camshaft Adv Angle B1 and B2. It never populated even in the pro version. The list looks exactly the same as the free version.

Buy it! Buy it! It is the most complete APP you will find at the most affordable price to use with your ELM327 adapter. It even has features you won't find in any, but the expensive monthly subscriptions, like Performance of your car, including 0 to 20, 30, 40, 60 mph times. It has complete diagnostics of DTC, emissions, etc. Try the Demo. You will buy the Full version.

I upgraded to Car Scanner Pro last week. I needed access to Mode $06 data, and this app provided exactly what I needed. It's more complicated to use than Torque Pro, but much much more configurable. The extra pages in the Pro version allow me to create multiple views for specific situations: highway travel, commuting, towing, off-road. This app is the vehicle nerd's ultimate toy.
