I use Pleco all the time, mostly during frequent visits to China. I like the examples of how a word is used. Sometimes the first definition is not the right one you are looking for. The handwriting recognition feature has also helped my ability to read Chinese characters. It works the same way online and offline so an internet connection is not required. This can come in very handy.
I have so far only used the free features, and these are too many already, and am tempted to pay for stroke order animation and OCR. The best Chinese learning software ever. I am now officially a Pleco fan. Adding to the previous review: I have now used the paid features of the app for sometime. Wow. The OCR is a must. I can now read things on and off the net with OCR. Also the additional dictionaries are simply amazing. Totally worth the price. I am now a loyal follower, no wait, an intensely loyal follower.
Very good app. Includes Cantonese too! My favorite function is definitely the in app handwriting input. The downside is that some examples have incorrect pronunciation. For example 厂 is chang3 or han3 but in the example 鞋厂 it is incorrectly pronounced xie4han3. Otherwise this is a great app with tons of useful features.
This is the best all-in-one Chinese dictionary I've ever used in my life - and I'm already 70 years old! All my friends to whom I've recommended this thanked me enormously for it, especially when they are all bilingual. I personally believe that Pleco's English translations is something to which even Google Translate cannot hold a candle! However, as regards the speakers, you do need to choose them carefully. The 漢語 male speaker is tops. Don't go for the female Cantonese speaker.
Love this app! Easy to use, with a wealth of information. Very useful for refreshing and improving my Chinese. This has everything I was hoping for and more! :) Have tried--and uninstalled--many apps before finding this one. Would give you more than five stars if I could! This app does use a lot of memory, but more than worth every MB!!
This app had, despite its costly add-ons, the best all-round functionality I've seen so far and a wealth of info in multiple ways and languages. Stable and well designed too
