About this app

Take control of charging on your rooted Android device.

Charge Control helps reduce the time your battery spends at high charge levels. Choose when charging should stop and resume, and a lightweight root service enforces your limits—even when the app is closed.

Key features:
• Set custom start and stop charging thresholds
• Pause charging when the battery becomes too warm
• Limit charging current to reduce heat on compatible devices
• Temporarily charge to 100% without changing your normal limits
• Start a one-time full charge from a Quick Settings tile
• Automatically discover compatible charging-control nodes
• Safely test and manually configure control nodes
• Monitor charge level, current, voltage, temperature and health
• View charging trends and estimated battery capacity
• Keep a local history of recent charging sessions
• Add battery and temperature widgets to your home screen
• Receive useful charging and problem alerts
• Export an identifier-free diagnostic report for troubleshooting
• Personalize the app with Material You, AMOLED themes and accent colors
• Use the app in multiple languages

Privacy and control:
Charge history is stored locally on your device. Optional device-support reporting is off by default and can be disabled at any time.

Important compatibility information:
Charge Control requires root access. Device support depends on the charging controls exposed by your phone’s kernel. Some features, including charging-speed control and one-time full charging, may not be available with every device or control engine.

Advanced custom control-node configuration is intended for experienced users. Only use paths and values you understand.

Core charging tools are available in the free version. An optional Premium upgrade removes ads and supports continued development.

The app works a bit differently from what I would expect. At the top threshold, it doesn't seem to be stopping the charging completely, but instead continues trickle-charging, so the battery level is kept at the set value. That's fine by me, as long as it doesn't continue charging past the threshhold. During that trickle-charge at the threshold level the charging current in the Status window still shows full value, which is incorrect. A minor issue for me. Thanks for the usedul app! 👍

Used to do the job very well, but keeps crashing in the BG since the upgrade to android 13. Uninstall and reinstall could not fix it, so I keep waking up with 100% battery most mornings. Would upgrade to 5* when fixed. (Update) Dropped from 4 to 3 stars, it stopped working on android 14. I see it was not updated for almost 2 years. I hope I find a replacement...

For my Moto G7 the correct control file is /sys/class/power_supply/battery/battery_charging_enabled. Unfortunately the app does not prevent my phone from charging when the limit is reached. It may be due to LineageOS 20 being installed, the OS now seems to overwrite the file by itself, so the app has no effect any more. I found that an alternative app named "Battery Charge Limit [ROOT]" does the trick: it seems to monitor the control file and change the value again when the OS tries to take over
