I gave them all my personal info and signed up just to be stopped at verifying my bank account to be able to even use the app. I need a confirmation code sent to my phone number that NEVER sends. I've reentered my phone number 3 times now with the same results. You'd think that a company holding such crucial information could design a functional app. Very skeptical now.
Read the fine print. They are selling the stocks to you for more then they are worth and taking the profits. Also, look up what margin trading is, that is what the Gold account is. It is extremely risky trading. Margin trading is like taking out an improvement mortgage on your home, but if the market goes down it's like your home burning down. You own them the money for the mortgage plus interest and if you do not pay in 1 day they can talk all of the money you have in your account. Nothing is for free and Robin Hood is not free trading.
I love this app. I was using Fidelity but I was getting killed with the trading fees every time I purchased and sold a stock. Now I can do it here for free! Most of the stocks you'd invest in a "premium" broker are available here. Interface is easy to read and navigate through. You can see the statistics of the company you're looking at. You can even read news articles related to the company you're looking at. Mind you, it won't have all the fancy stuff other apps will have, but you can do your own research and just come here to invest the money after you've made your decision. I'm disappointed at myself for not taking advantage of this app earlier. I had it on my phone for almost 6 months before actually giving it a shot and I'm happy I tried it!
Can't find the stocks I want to invest in with this app. It seems well put together, but maybe not open to all stocks. I'm no stock expert and maybe there is certain criteria to be met, but it's not currently helpful to me...
Works well and is indeed free. App is designed extremely well and looks fantastic. Graphs are not very detailed and you can't select the price you want to buy or sell at. Those are the only negatives I've found after some use. Still a good product though.
This app is pretty good for trading, however if you send an invite for free stock on mobile, it direct you to the playstore link and does not give you credit for the invite. I've tried emailing Robinhood, but they have not replied and I'm afraid they won't bother to give myself and the friend I invited our earned free stock. I give 3 stars for the crappy 'share invite' interface and lack of customer service.
