Love to shop but can’t stand the queues? Want to be part of the future of shopping? Be part of the new way to shop at Sainsbury’s - all you have to do is scan, bag and go!

Here's how:
• Download the SmartShop app to register – you’ll need to have your nectar card ready
• Save Digital Nectar offers and earn Nectar points*
• Scan items you want as you walk around the store
• Pack your items as you shop
• Pay in a flash and feel like a VIP at one of our SmartShop checkouts* Or pay with Google Pay!

You can use SmartShop on your mobile data or our free in-store WiFi, where available.

SmartShop is currently available at over 100+ Sainsbury’s stores across the UK, with more stores being added all the time.To see if SmartShop is available in your store, just tap the ‘Find a SmartShop store’ button in the app, or visit and apply the ‘SmartShop’ filter within ‘Customer facilities’.

* Please note that you'll need to be a Digital Nectar customer and have opted in to the offers on the Nectar app to view them in SmartShop. You will need to sign back in if you have not been active for 14 days or longer.

**SmartShop checkouts are not available in our mobile pay stores, as these are Google Pay in-app payments only.

The app had been brilliant, but for the last few months, it crashed every few weeks, have to reinstall, and sometimes, the whole shopping logs were lost when transferring to the checkout! Imagine you have to rescan the whole shopping trolley! Hope you guys can improve the shopping experience.

Reasonably well thought our app. Reasonably good use of QR for logging of a venue (in some stores) and checkout. Location is used to verify presence. Location tracking is slightly annoying, but is only actually required whilst shopping (easy enough to only allow location usage when using the app), by far the bigger battery draining consideration is the constant use of the camera. Sadly Nectar offers no longer transfer straight away from the Nectar app to the Sainsbury's app 😔

Frustrating. I carefully and conscientiously use this app to shop so that I can be through the till quicker, but it's all for nothing when I repeatedly have to wait for someone to authorise an alcohol purchase, or worse still insist on unpacking half my shopping too check I'm not a thief. Every time everything is in order, but I keep having to stop for checks and it takes longer than using a traditional till.
