The Steam Chat app includes many key features of the desktop Steam client chat, including:
Friends List – See who’s in game or online at a glance. You'll see your custom categories and favorites bar just like you can on your PC.
Rich Chat – Your chats get even better with higher fidelity links, videos, tweets, GIFs, Giphy, Steam emoticons, and more.
Invite Links – Add new friends on Steam with a link. Generate an invite link you can text or email.
Customizable Notifications – Mobile notifications mean you'll never miss a message or game invite. You can customize your notifications per friend, group chat, and chat channel.
Group Chats - Get everyone on the same page. Groups make it easier to do things like stay in touch with your communities and organize game night with your best friends.

Ratings and reviews

The new update fixes the login loop as far as I can tell and I can now upload images!!!! However, doing so causes everyone to appear offline and requires an app restart. This is an improvement, but there is still much work to be done. Good job! (Updating from 1 star to 3 stars)

Very bare bones and has limited functionality. I'd like it if I could add categories and sort channels by tapping and holding them, on top of other things. Since discord may be rolling out age verification for all users in the future, Valve/Steam has a big opportunity to capitalize on that market when discord users eventually fall away. I'm hoping this app is improved, because it has the capability to be a better and successful alternative.

The ability to send photos stopped working. Every time I try to send a picture, a window will pop up that simply reads "error." I tried just about every remedy you could think of. Uninstalling and reinstalling, giving complete permissions, clearing cache and data, restarting my phone, etc. Nothing works. It's a shame, but I have to give the app a very low rating. If you want to chat with your Steam friends, I recommend just giving them your account info for another chat app.
