Minnesota 511 is the Minnesota Department of Transportation's traveler information resource. The 511MN app provides statewide, real-time traffic information for Minnesota highways and interstates, including:

- Hands-free, audio notifications of traffic events while you drive

- Zoom-enabled map with selectable event icons

- Near real-time updates on winter road conditions, traffic incidents, and road closures

- Roadwork and construction

- Travel time delays associated with traffic reports (look for the orange glowing icons)

- Current traffic speeds

- Roadside camera images and live video capabilities

- Road weather information

- Snow plow camera images

- Rest area locations including real-time truck parking availability for select state-run rest areas

- Electronic roadway sign messages

After update, app is almost useless now. The where to bar on the bottom is fixed there and cannot be hidden. The ledger is in a separate menu and not easily accessible quickly. And the biggest flaw is they only show major roads now. None of the blacktops and county roads I drive everyday have any information available for them. I want to be able to open the app and see all of the roads in my area like it used to be. It constantly crashes. BRING BACK THE OLD STYLE!!!! The Iowa app is far better!

Something has changed and it doesn't have yellow or red showing any traffic. It is absolutely pointless now I don't know what has changed since the update. Pretty worthless. The update just screwed everything up and made this so worthless. Please listen to all the people that are complaining as a lot of them are. Figure it out and fix it or go back to the old version. This new one just sucks!!!!!!

Changing my previous review... What did you do to the app? I just want to be able to see how the roads are, without having to put in where I'm going each time. Are they covered in snow? Are they icy and slick? Are they clear? Have the ability to put where you're going as an option, not a requirement to get road details. Also, I cannot register to try to personalize the app. Cannot get past the optional ad of phone number. And any other changes I make, do not stay. This update is terrible!

What's new

- We updated the info shown on the map by default to highlight what's most important during the summer months. Those layers are: Critical Disruptions & Traffic Speeds. As a reminder, you can tap the "Layers" button in the bottom right corner to customize the info shown on your map.
- We removed the Winter Driving button at the bottom of the app. It will be re-added before the next winter season.
- Misc. minor bug fixes & performance improvements
