I installed this app to get access codes to allow me to log into the HMRC website. However, you can't scan the QR code using the same device as the QR code is displayed on! The developer had assumed you will use your smart phone to scan the QR code displayed on a desktop so you need both to use it for this purpose. Not exactly mobile friendly.
*EDIT* Top class customer service i have to say! My review was answered and problems dealt and currently being looked into with within 24 hours! Nicely done HMRC! Did my tax renewal via the app completed and clicked to send it through, it said it was complete and done but just gone back on the app and its still asking me to renew my tax credits?? No idea if its actually done or not!! Like the app apart from that issue
I am a bit disappointed with this app. I am self employed and really wanted to have quick access to my self assessment. But it is only showing tax credits details and paye. The app needs work if it is to be used by the self employed. Sort it out HMRC
Pointless waste of device space. Wouldn't load, app crashed and then so did my phone! Quicker using the mobile site.
PORTRAIT ONLY!! Wake up the world is landscape, HMRC web site says get this for tablets which are best in landscape. Majority mobile phones are also good in landscape. So looks like the app wasn't tested. Only used the access code feature. Copying of the access code does not work, that clearly wasn't tested. Can add several (same) 'qr codes' (I used the text equivalent), but you can't delete the additional one(s), clearly that wasn't even thought off, let alone tested! Used the access code on the HMRC site, then need to verify my details (entered correctly). HMRC said they couldn't verify my details. I was unable to check because of a technical errors. Was that why HMRC couldn't verify me? However, from other reviews ... technical errors is the norm for HMRC, clearly, the web site isn't tested either. Finally, once you have used the qr code (or text equivalent), you do not get a chance to get another or same the qr code (or text equivalent) .... So if you uninstall the app., get a new mobile device, want to use more than one mobile device, you are stuffed, up a creak with no paddle... because you cannot get the qr code (or text equivalent) to enter in to the new instance of the app. Result ... you may not be able to access the HMRC web site. Clearly no one thought of those situations. So after 5mins, I have found an antiquated portrait only, bug ridden, useless, untested, poorly thought out app., & process relying on a bug ridden unstable web site. And as a UK Tax payer, I've paid for this abortion of a software solution that has left me locked out of the HMRC web site .....
Great when it works. Yesterday it was fine but today says no payments due for my tax credits. I'm hoping this is just a glitch with the app.
If your tax credit payments are paid weekly, you now can see your next three payments for each tax credit you get. This feature will be coming soon for users with monthly payments. We’ve also made it clearer when you get a one-off tax credit payment.
We’ve added the option to save & share a copy of the tax credit renewal confirmation screen.
