The Self Assessment payment deadline is 31 January. Use the HMRC app to make your payment easily. You can approve a payment to come straight from your bank account.

Use the HMRC app to:

- check your next salary payment from your employer
- check how much you owe on your Self Assessment and make a payment
- check your next tax credit payments
- find your tax code(s)
- find out how much Income Tax you should pay
- manage and renew your tax credits
- access your Help to Save account
- work out your take-home pay with the tax calculator
- claim a refund if you’ve paid too much tax
- check progress on forms you have sent to HMRC
- read messages from HMRC

You can use your Government Gateway account to sign in. If you don’t have one, registration is easy and fast. You will need your National Insurance number and birth date to start.

Once you’re set up, you can sign in quickly and securely using your face, fingerprint or iris (depending on device support).

Very easy to use, I would have given 5 stars but I've only just worked out notifications have to be switched on... These should be turned on as a default. I know it is my responsibility to manage my payments but this time I missed the deadline and wouldn't have done so with the extra reminders.

Nothing can actually be done on the app it transfers you to the website for everything that isn't just looking at something and i hat ethewesight too every link just takes u in circles they never actually take you were you need to be to do anything just read more. Honestly the whole thing needs a redo.

I have been utilizing the HMRC online platform for my personal tax assessments for a number of years now. However, it was only recently, through HMRC's Twitter account, that I discovered their app. I must say, it's a fantastic application - user-friendly and efficient. Information on my tax code, national insurance contribution, and state pension details is now just a couple of clicks away. Excellent work!

What's new

You can now add your National Insurance number to your Google Wallet. We’ve also added an option to download payments received in the current tax year.
