While my initial impression was the same as other reviews, where all I could initially see was my name, address and NI number. With all available features stating "service unavailable", that fortunately is just a momentary 'blip' where perhaps personal data is required to be synced in the background? Either way, upon a second login attempt, all data was available and readily accessible. One star docked as I would have preferred the app to mirror the complete functionality of HMRC's website.

the form is fine, EXCEPT that it gives the user no indication as to where the "payments on account" for the last tax year have gone. I can imagine a large amount of staff time is wasted explaining this to troubled callers, whilst it needs only for the IT people to show it all, and with a description.

Hi Simon, if you open the app and tap on Self Assessment we show payments in the last 14 days, scroll down and tap on View payment history for payments made more than 14 days ago.

Surprisingly good for a government app. The functionality now is actually pretty good. Today I opened the app thinking I'd use it to get an authentication code to login to the website, and found I could pay my Self Assessment in less than a minute using the app. This is tax payments made as convenient as an online shopping transaction. Credit to HMRC where it's due.
