About this ebook

This inter-disciplinary guide to the thermodynamics of living organisms has been thoroughly revised and updated to provide a uniquely integrated overview of the subject. Retaining its highly readable style, it will serve as an introduction to the study of energy transformation in the life sciences and particularly as an accessible means for biology, biochemistry and bioengineering undergraduate students to acquaint themselves with the physical dimension of their subject. The emphasis throughout the text is on understanding basic concepts and developing problem-solving skills. The mathematical difficulty increases gradually by chapter, but no calculus is required. Topics covered include energy and its transformation, the First Law of Thermodynamics, Gibbs free energy, statistical thermodynamics, binding equilibria and reaction kinetics. Each chapter comprises numerous illustrative examples taken from different areas of biochemistry, as well as a broad range of exercises and references for further study.

I, Kselvam , Assistant professor(Sr.G), Department of chemical engineering, SRM university, kattankulathur-603203, Kancheepuram District,Tamilnadu, India. So for, I am teaching Chemical Engineering thermodynamics to Biotechnology students, I am in the need of, to include more topics from biologicalthermodynamics concepts in the course. During the search towards that ideai got your book from google books site. I just gone through the various area in your book right from the preface and i wondered about that beautiful approch and compilataion of thebook. Unlike the smith and vanness's Intron to chemical engg. thermodynamics book, this book has written in the language of english knowing stdunets from any country and any level of person whoever have the science knowledge can easily undesrtand the concept. Entropy, Free energy, Ionic solution and protien coupling etc.of many area dealt very nicely. If possible please provide in indian edition at lowest price in india. Could you ableto send me a speciman copy of this book.so that i can show and suggest my students to buy this book and equip themselvesin this area. Thank you.
