Sony's TV remote control app Video＆TV SideView will make your TV viewing experience more enjoyable.

Using a smartphone or tablet, you can use the app as a TV remote control for the home.

The app should have been great. It is in fact necessary since entering text in search fields with the onscreen keyboard is a pain and I don't want any voice features until they stop recording and sending data somewhere I don't have any control over. But, first of all, they seem to be removing functionality from the app, there's no Sideview anymore. Second, it only works on the same Wi-Fi, not the same home network. So if I connect the TV to the ethernet cable the app does not work.

Nice and useful app, but I think when the user opens the app, you should check the tv list, if you got only one TV at the list, immediately connect to that and show the remote controler. It makes your app more easy-to-use... (or add an option for us to choose what to see at the lunch time)

New update 8.0.3 fixed my problem. Works now. Thanks Sony. ------Like everyone it's broken for me. I had v7.4 loaded on a phone I never use so I extracted the apk, installed, turned off auto update and I'm good to go. It just starts with video file screen.
