If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

Ratings and reviews

Though a technological marvel, its "stateless memory" makes it an absent-minded genius that will never remember important details about past interactions. This puts it on the user to be extremely organized and mindful index anything that came out of the interaction. It is missing Google's world-class search engine, you cannot easily find any key information from interactions. You can't export the entire transcript. You can only do one response per prompt. ChatGPT can remember & build rapport.

I miss the functionality of the old digital assistant it was inappropriate for Google to switch to Gemini before rolling out all its features. Edit: I did try it. It doesn't do what it did in the past, worst it tells me sometimes I can enable it via some plug in and then when I get into it there is no toggle for the alleged plug in!!!!

It doesn't work. Expecting to photoshop? Nah just smear digital grease on it. Expecting to ID songs? Nah, can't find it. Create a pic of you holding a? Nah, here's a picture of someone else doing a random. The app should just be a button "I'm feeling lucky", with no explanation, that just does whatever it feels like, people will forget why they turned their phone on anyways and go back to bring unemployed and then press the button again. Make a boring lecture searchable? Nah, vague definitions.
