About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging. Google Messages is revolutionizing how a billion users connect and is powered by Rich Communication Services (RCS), the industry standard for texting that replaces SMS and MMS. With RCS, you can share high resolution photos and videos, enjoy dynamic group chats, and seamlessly connect with other RCS users including your iPhone friends.

• Rich Communication: Share high-quality photos and videos, see when friends are typing, and enjoy dynamic group chats that now seamlessly include your iPhone friends.
• Personal Touch: Make conversations uniquely yours with features like custom chat bubble colors or fun selfie gifs.
• Privacy Matters: Rest easy knowing your personal chats are protected with end-to-end encryption between Google Messages users, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you’re messaging. Plus, enjoy advanced spam protection.
• AI-Powered Messaging: Craft the perfect message with Magic Compose suggestions and our latest AI features.
• Seamless Across Devices: Start a chat on your phone and continue it effortlessly on your tablet or computer. The app is also available on Wear OS.

Google Messages is more than just messaging; it's a richer, safer, and more expressive way to connect.

App is also available on Wear OS. Availability of RCS varies by region and carrier and a data plan may be required. Availability of features varies by market and device and sign up for beta testing may be required.

I cannot access txt messages without logging in with an email, it's so frustrating trying to bypass this. It is supposed to be a basic functionality of a phone, it shouldn't be locked behind an email sign in. edit: it used to be possible to use without an account. but now it's not possible for me to access my messages without an email as the app is locked in the "welcome continue as..." screen upon opening the app and it's unskippable

Hi Daniela. Google Messages now allows you to share your Google Account profile (name and picture only) with the people you send messages to, so they can easily recognize you. Your email address is not shared with anyone you send a message to. If you’d like to use Google Messages without an account, check out this link: https://goo.gle/4hGJGjT.

Too slow, screen goes blank, can't respond to messages at times. The only thing I like is the extra emojis and I can like messages but other then that I miss my Samsung messages and now we're stuck with this? I'm not happy at all.. I'm forced to use this feature for messages. Sometimes I have to sure snap chat because Google messages is not responding. I'm frustrated. Last week I sent messages to my husband and 3 minutes later they disappeared. Like how is that even possible? So much is wrong

Hi there. Can you try to uninstall and reinstall the Google Messages app itself? To do so, open the Play Store app. Search "Google Messages.” Tap Uninstall and then Reinstall or Update. You can also send feedback in the Google Messages app. At the top right, tap Profile picture or Initial and then Help & feedback and then Send feedback. Thanks.

Make it like Verizon Messenger+ was!!!! please and thank you! It doesn't even show the same font that my phone is set for!!! Can't change bubble colors, can't set background pics, can't have a signature set, can't customize anything, there is a whole lot of can't on this app. Very disappointing. We need more custom options!!! My friends miss my signature even!
