If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

Ratings and reviews

As an assistant, Gemini shines in almost every area. It does everything Assistant achieved with just a little bit extra. As an AI, it feels half baked and still in its infancy. What sucks is having to pay to access premium features, which should have been included in the base version. I'll be convinced once there's one version, with all features, that's free.

There are still a few glitches, which are to be expected. Overall, it's helped me save hours of time just searching the entire internet and sifting through each useless SPONSORED thing that is always a waste of time. I get quick, accurate, and precise highlights that enable me to dig deeper into the areas I want more in-depth information on. I can simply zoom into the portion of the information I'm looking for and ask Gemini for more details on that alone. I LOVE IT!

Subscribed for the image gen capabilities as a means of refining my ideas before I go hire a real artist. Turns out I shouldn't have bothered with the AI at all, since it refuses to generate images until I subscribe to the service I just subscribed to. Nice job! The rest of it seems to work okay, but it's useless to me. Edit: Yes I'm aware it's in gradual rollout, which is why I signed up for the Advanced service, to get access despite the gradual rollout. It still tells me I need Advanced.
