Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. Really like Protonmail but this app works very, very poorly. I have lost count of how many times fully typed up emails have appeared as blank emails to the recipients. Other times, the app simply fails to deliver the email (and I get the notification later)! I am now reduced to using the app just for reading emails. Sending emails no longer appears to be a consistently viable option. Given that this is a paid service, it's really disappointing that the app performs so inconsistently.

Nothing works! There's been an update which seems to have wiped out the ability to use email. Before, I couldn't send an email or open attachments using mobile data, now with the "update" every email I read promptly goes to unread and the marker at the top says "0 unread"! Even deleting emails on the website doesn't clear them on the app.

Until the last few months I would have given 5*. I have emails I'm composing disappear, emails I've sent don't actually get sent or saved, the Android app is extremely slow. The browser app is also a lot slower than it used to be. I see hundreds of reviews saying the same and the reply is always "the developers are working on it". I need to know how long it will take. What is going on? As a paying customer I am now considering the huge effort of switching provider.
