Square Point of Sale is the free Android point-of-sale (POS) app that gives you everything you need to take payments and run your business. Accept chip and PIN cards, contactless cards and mobile payments with a Square Reader. Funds are deposited fast – see money in your bank account as soon as the next working day. Use your POS app to keep track of sales and inventory in real time, manage items and employees and valuable insights about your business. All this with no long-term commitments or subscription fees.

Create and send invoices for free from your Square Point of Sale app and get paid faster. Customise your invoices, set up weekly or monthly recurring invoices from your Dashboard and let customers pay online with a credit or debit card. Invoices are free to send and cost 2.5% + VAT per invoice paid online.

Ratings and reviews

This app is generally good. No huge changes to the GUI too often. It's kept simple and easy to use. But it is frustrating whenever android releases an OS update, the NFC payment processing on the app is blocked until said update is installed, which requires me connecting to WiFi. It's very inconvenient when I'm out on the road, at a job, and all of a sudden, with no notice, have to dig out the card reader to process payments.

I got square because my husband has had it for about 10 years, it has been good for him. I am a very small business. I just needed a way to except credit cards. I can't even get thru the verification process. I spoke to someone on the phone who couldn't or wouldn't explane why I was flagged for further verification. They want all this info and it won't upload on their app. After three phone calls they email me a link that did allow upload. Not my phone. They still won't say why. This app sucks!

The 6/10 update removed the ability to deposit checks into your Square account. The change was not noted in the update, the online legal terms for Square usage, or the support documentation that all confirm this feature is available subject to agreeing to the terms. Calling support, they stated to deposit checks, the account requires a "certain amount of banking history for that feature to be enabled," but they can't tell you how much or what kind. I've had good history so this is infuriating.

What's new

We update our apps regularly to make sure they’re at 100%. This update includes minor bug fixes and performance improvements.
