Update: after waiting some time, and updating the app, everything appears to be normal again. Drained 25% over a 10 hr sleep which is perfect. Great addition to the sleep as Android app! OLD: Worked perfectly for over a year. Suddenly around the beginning of October it started fully draining my gear s3 battery. I haven't changed the way I use it at all. Used to drain ~30% overnight, now drains ~100%. Hopefully an update will restore the original battery drain at some point.

UPDATE: Many thanks for the update. Unfortunately such issues seem external to our Tizen app, they can appear and go with system updates or what ever servies you have installed on the watch. Please contact our support@urbandroid.org if that would reoccur..For details please contact support@urbandroid.org. Petr Nalevka CEO @ Urbandroid

When the main app started misbehaving (ignoring my alarm and not recording data from the watch), I fixed it by following this tip from the FAQ: Go to Play Store to this app (Galaxy/Gear Add-on for Sleep) and click Open. That resets it and allows the Sleep app to control the watch again. It worked for my Active 2. Tech support was fast and helpful. The app is very complicated, so it takes some digging to figure out what causes a particular problem.

Update: A copy paste response about turning off GPS does not in any way respond to my concerns listed below. GPS is irrelevant to this app automatically starting sleep tracking in the middle of the day. GPS is also irrelevant to the companion app on my watch running in the background all day even when I'm not tracking sleep. I've dropped from 2 stars to 1 star due to the out of touch response. Original review: I love Sleep As Android, but this companion app... I can't recommend this in good conscience. They respond to reviews stating that they've solved the issues with automatically starting sleep monitoring in the middle of the day, but it's still happening to me a few times per day almost a month after they say they fixed it. It also seems to drain the watch battery throughout the day, as if the companion app on the watch is active 24/7 even when I'm not sleeping. I left my watch at home, just to find that it was at 30% battery from 100% while it should have been completely idle. (And of course, sleep tracking started on my phone as soon as it connected to my watch again) Thanks but no thanks, I'll try this app again next year or so.

To lower battery consumption, please make sure to turn off unnecessary radios (GPS, Wifi, GSM) and turn off screen for the night. As Tizen does not support sensor batching we need to keep the CPU on all night.
