* Required permissions for using NAVER Maps
- Location: Used to show your location when you use the map, directions, navigation, and more. (Allow all the time must be selected to display location information in the widget.)
- Microphone: Used for voice search and Clova voice commands.
- Physical activity: Used to detect your step count in walking directions. (Only on devices running OS 10.0 or later)
- Phone: Used to check call status and make calls when entering and using navigation.
- Call logs: Accessed to confirm recipients when making calls or sending messages during navigation. (Call logs are no longer used as of NAVER Maps v6.3.)
- SMS: Used to send messages during navigation. (SMS is no longer used as of NAVER Maps v6.3.)
- Contacts: Used to make calls with Clova voice commands and to save phone numbers from place search results.

Ratings and reviews

the indicator for which direction to go on the subway are borderline useless. sometimes they will say the next station, sometimes the terminus, sometimes another name entirely. only about 1/2 of the time do they line up with what is printed on the signs at the station. addresses that are copy pasted in Korean from any application that I have are not found in the application. I cannot find a way to enter GPS coordinates it doesn't share well from GeoShare. it's garbage.

Ok, after using it for a few days, the app is great for providing direction using public transportation.. very accuratem However not everything appears in English, even though tou change the language to English. Also, I'm assuming bc it lacks the capability to look for things in English, it doesn't do a good job finding things so I look for them on Google maps and then enter the address. Also, when you enter the address, add name, number without the district and/or country. Naver won't find it.

Pretty essential for living in Seoul. The English version isn't very good, imo. I use the Korean version. I appreciate the detailed info about public transport arrival times and which train door to use to shorten your next transfer time. (Arrival times aren't always 100% accurate, but would it be reasonable to expect that?) I have sometimes had a little trouble with looking up addresses on the app, but I suspect that is because of poor choices in the way the addresses are written.
