I really like using Smartthings, and have had an overall good experience with it until just recently. The newest release changed the layout of the thermostat and it is very inconvenient to use. The user must now scroll down past the historical temperature and other stuff just to change the thermostat setting or temperature. When scrolling, it is easy to accidentally touch the temperature slider, which changes the setting too much. Why would any engineer think this is a good idea is beyond me.

The various UI changes in the June update have absolutely ruined the app. Navigating between rooms on the Devices tab is now dumb and clumsy, starting with the too-small-for-imperfect eyes font on the swipe bar and the elimination of the ability to swipe left and right to change rooms. The device presentations are now cluttered with who-gives-a-heck data that takes priority over actual DEVICE CONTROLS. There's more, all of which proves this update wasn't created by or for actual users.

The app was updated and most of my routines were broken until after I agreed to some pretty one-sided "terms of service" and some other thing. After reluctantly agreeing, I had to figure out why the routines weren't working. Most of my routines were setup under "smart lighting" and were still there. I went through and recreated everything under "automatic routines" and everything seems to be working. I'm just glad I didn't have to remember everything to get things working before the update.

Hi Brian, Ellen with SmartThings support here. I'm so sorry for all the trouble using the new app! There were some login and app issues yesterday that should now be resolved, but I'd also like to help personally and get all your feedback about theses issues to our app teams. Please email me at support@smartthings.com with Attn: Ellen in the subject
