If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

Ratings and reviews

I only use it to set timers and alarms using voice commands and it can't even get those right. At least half the time it doesn't do anything. I've been late, burned food, etc because it is so unreliable. Why would I bother trying to use it for anything more complicated if it can't even handle a timer? (btw, English is my first language so i don't think it's a language issue)

Great app overall, but anytime i send an image to see if it can get more detailed or even describe it to me, i get roadblocked by "Sorry I can't help with that image. Try uploading another image or describing the image you tried to upload and I can help you that way." its honestly frustrating as i have problems with being able to read what in an image, would be 5 stars, but moving it to 3 because of this issue.

if you are purposely crashing the app because you believe the AI is starting to hallucinate then just say so instead of making crash for what appears like no reason! I have ADHD so being interrupted mid thought is not okay! it's infuriating when I completely forgot what I wanted to ask when it crashes on me when I'm in the middle of typing!! this is a HUGE accessibility issue!
