I bought the full version and have had ongoing problems with connecting to many sites. I reached out to product support, but haven't been able to resolve the issues unless I completely turn off VPN. The app is not intuitive to use, and there is no included instruction manual, so you have to go look up every issue on the web. The interface is terrible - very hard to find things referenced in web articles, and if you are not an IT expert, it's hard to implement fixes (uses command lines). 👎

I switched from ExpressVPN because many websites would not connect unless the VPN was off. I now have far fewer problems with Proton but I've found that it uses a great deal more battery power than Express, 9-10 times more! The help files suggested changing protocols which helped some, but I have to keep the VPN disconnected most of the time to keep the battery usage below 2%. Express used under 2% even if it was always connected! I doubt I'll keep Proton after the 1 year contract is up.

So far so good. The service seems excellent far quicker to connect, reliable and faster than others I tried. Also fewer issues with the proxy IP being blocked by sites which happens a lot with other services. ETA: Thank you for the reply about using Recents instead of Profiles. Does help. As a wishlist item, I'd like to have the ability to set preferences 'by connection' (eg no VPN on home wifi, VPN on other wifi etc.)
