Data security and authorisations.
What permissions does SBB Mobile need and why?

Location
For connections from your current location, the GPS function must be activated so that SBB Mobile can find the nearest stop. This also applies if you want to have the nearest stop displayed in the timetable.

Calendar and e-mail
You can save connections in your own calendar and send them by e-mail (to friends, an external calendar). SBB Mobile requires read and write permissions to be able to import your desired connection into the calendar.

Access to the camera
SBB Mobile requires access to your camera to take pictures directly in the app for your personalised touch timetable.

Internet access
SBB Mobile requires internet access to search the timetable as well as for ticket purchases.

Memory
To support offline functions, e.g. station/stop list, connections (history) and purchased tickets, SBB Mobile requires access to your device’s memory (saving app-specific settings).

The easy ride is nice but DANGEROUS, use carefully. Even with sharing location, no battery optimizations,... It can reset the status and if you turn again inside the train, you will receive a ticket because it was after departure. SBB itself don't want to check the logs to see that you actually did before. It is possible revert the case, but it is unnecessary painful. PS: I still use the feature, but always scared checking every minute. PS: It is not a location problema, since it at least warns.

Lately (last 3 versions as of this review) the Easy Ride feature has stopped functioning properly. Sometimes it will not work at all. Sometimes it will select First Class and charge you for that, even though I have never changed it from second class. If you save a trip, and try to select it to see what your transfer is, it will freeze the app. Everything about the app has gotten worse to the point of not functioning.

Much better than the website, but sometimes has inaccurate information. Need to check the local ZVV.ch website for delays and route changes. Update: Thanks for the response SBB, however I have issues with the Postauto busses not being correct. Recently I have missed connecting busses, been stranded in small villages and had very long 30+ minute delays because of construction, changed routes, etc. This was not in Zürich, but in the countryside outside the city. Drivers apologized and said I needed to use the ZVV website in the future as the SBB app is not reliable they said.

Hi there Mr. Cross. My colleagues from the timetable would like even more detailed information for analysis. In order to be able to investigate this, they would have to know what the route and date were. Basically, the real-time data from Postbus should be the same for ZVV and us. Please mail to digital.commerce@sbb.ch. Thanks and kind regards.
