The Nintendo Switch Online app is designed to help enhance your online gameplay experience on Nintendo Switch™. With this app, you can use voice chat while gaming, see whether your friends are online and use game-specific services!
Game-specific services are currently available for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3.
A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use this app.

◆ Checking the online status of friends

You can use your smart device to check whether your friends are online. You'll also be able to check what games your online friends are playing, and even send friend requests from within this app!
*You will need to use your Nintendo Switch console to accept friend requests and configure other friend settings.

◆ Using voice chat while gaming

When playing online in supported games, you can use voice chat with your friends via this app. How you use voice chat depends on the game and mode you're using - for example, when you split into teams in Splatoon 3, you can choose to use voice chat just with your team members so that friends on the other team won't know your next move.

Ratings and reviews

The animal crossing nooklink app thing keeps freezing, then it can't be opened again (it just stays on the loading screen). I've tried closing/restarting the app and even restarting my phone. The only thing that fixes it is uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Nintendo app, but this only allows me to use the app for a minute or two before it happens again. Very annoying; makes this app useless for me.

Honestly this app is REALLY handy. It's only 4 stars for reasons I'll cover. My first complaint or feedback is that there should really be a way to buy games on the phone. This may be pushing it but you could make ways to get coupons and get a discount. Another thing is that there should be a texting system alongside with being able to send screen shots! I think there should also be a way to cast to your phone and you really should add mario maker to see how many likes you get. Thx for reading!!

Although im giving Nintendo of the benefit of the doubt, this voice chat app is lacking a crucial feature... running in the background. The phone has to be on to access voice chat and switches off when you put the phone to sleep or switch to another app. The Discord and Skype app can run in the background. This app still needs Improvement so I suggest a quick update so It can run in the background with notifications to. Edit: changed to four star due to this being patched.
