In today's connected world, Mobile ID offers a private, secure, contactless way to verify identity, either at home or on-the-go. Everything is on your phone – now your ID is, too!

Intuitive, easy-to-use and highly convenient, New York Mobile ID can be used anywhere it’s accepted, in any context a physical ID would be used – with enhanced privacy features. Only your Face ID, TouchID or six-digit pin will unlock the app and access your Mobile ID.

In five simple steps, you can create your New York MiD:

1. Download the app and set permissions
2. Verify access to your phone number
3. Use your device camera to scan the front and back of your driver license or ID card
4. Follow the steps to capture a selfie
5. Set up app security and you’re good to go!

Please note:
New York Mobile ID is an official state-issued ID, serving as a companion to your physical ID. As not all entities are able to verify Mobile ID, you should continue to carry your physical ID.

This is a great app, specially for these days, that we do everything with the phone, even paying and you don't have to pull out your wallet. Downside, since I registered in July, probably before that, every time I access the app, I have to register, support says they don't save the info, but was the purpose of having if this is suppose to be a digital ID, and the data has been removed when you need it. They told me to reinstall and restart the phone, I hope that works.

I normally don't rate apps but the sign up procedure was horrible. There was no way to review whether a picture was taken correctly or not, I may have ended up with two photos of the back of my driver's license. In the end, the procedure didn't complete and there was an error message in red. Very poor quality control and user testing of this app before going to market.

It took several tries for the scan to work for the back of my ID during the setup. I think the actual angle of the phone to the ID matters, so tilt your phone until the ID is perfectly straight in the box and not too close either. Also, a solid, dark background works much better, even though the instructions show one hand holding the ID and the other taking the photo. Holding the ID in my hand didn't work at all for me. Once you get through the setup process, though, it's simple to use.
