Industry Leading Security Features
Messages are stored on Proton Mail servers using end-to-end encryption at all times and are transmitted securely between Proton servers and user devices. This largely eliminates the risk of message interception.

Zero Access to Your Email Content
Proton Mail's zero access architecture means that your data is encrypted in a way that makes it inaccessible to us. Data is encrypted on the client side using an encryption key that Proton does not have access to. This means we don't have the technical ability to decrypt your messages.

Open-Source Cryptography
Proton Mail's open-source software has been thoroughly vetted by security experts from around the world to ensure the highest levels of protection. Proton Mail only uses secure implementations of AES, RSA, along with OpenPGP, while all of the cryptographic libraries used are open source. The latest update turned off app lock, I figured out how to reenable it, but in the meantime all my email was unprotected on my device. The list of emails uses a very large font and so it takes longer to scroll through them. And I wish I could go to the next email from within an email, instead I have to back out and then click on the next email. It's not efficient.

I loath the new update. Give me back my compact inbox. Having an 'avatar' to the left of every email is distracting and pointless. Most of them are simply a letter in a colored box. It reduces screen real estate for actual useful information, anl makes the inbox feel like a fisher price app. This is a great way to make me stop using the mobile app and seek out other options. I say that as a ~8 year essentials subscriber.

I experience an odd issue with the newest update ... if I open messages in the currently loaded/running app, no problem. However, if I select a message using the notification screen, a second instance of the app opens to view the message. It's like it doesn't even check to see if there is already an instance of the app running, it simply opens a new one so I have multiple instances of the same app running ..... very odd. Otherwise, the newest version is working satisfactorily for me.
