If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

Not that good. I remember in 2010, there was an assistant app for Android that you could have an avatar, which you could change even down to the clothes she was wearing, it was continuous conversation and could open apps and make calls and send text messages. It's gone for some reason, Google probably hated it because it was better than anything they had, and forced its removal. This one is just awful. For as advanced as humans claim to be in the tech world, we're actually going backwards.

While it's fun to play with, the inability to use it with a lock screen for a hands-free experience while driving ruins it the most. The second is that asking for the time is impossible because it can't use your location data. Even with basic functions, this makes Google assistant a better choice at this time. I do hope Gemini improves, but it can't replace assistant without these abilities. It's been 8 months and the app is the same garbage as before.

I'm frustrated with this app due to two main issues. First, it struggles to understand some of my words. Although I'm not a native English speaker and my accent isn't perfect, I don't face this problem with ChatGPT. However, Gemini consistently misinterprets me. Second, the app interrupts me by responding to unfinished sentences whenever I pause briefly. I don't encounter this issue with other AI apps. Even Google Assistant had these same problems. It inherited these problems from that.
