Superb The app is almost perfect. Here is one suggestion to make it even better. Put photos and little gif or html5 video clips in your exercises. Language is best learned when it can be associated with visual information. For example, I learned German by watching cartoons on satellite TV. I would be willing to pay for this app or have unobtrusive ads in it if it had visual exercises.
Love it I love this! It is slow and repetitive when it comes to each section but its great cause it really makes the words stick and it helps you retain it. I'm learning Italian cause I've always wanted to learn the language, and this app is really helping me succeed my goal:)
What a great way to learn a language! So far I'm learning several languages and I LOVE it. This free and ZERO ads app doesn't coddle you but throws you right into learning. The reward system makes it more like a game. It's awesome that they keep adding languages. GLITCH UPDATE: Ukrainian letters not showing up [ ї і є ґ ]. Could we PLEASE get a tab or button we can push to view our streak progress? You can only see it after you complete a lesson. It would be nice to have as a constant we could check. Chat & offline options would be FANTASTIC!
Only one or two things missing I love Duolingo. It has enabled me to get a really good grasp on some basic German in just a few months, and I'm not even halfway done with the German course. The selection of languages is pretty diverse and great, too. The only thing I believe the program is missing is a grammar section. I'm getting by okay with the course, but there have been a few times when I answered wrong because I didn't word a sentence right, and there really is no part of the program that helps you out with how a language's grammar works. Otherwise, I think Duolingo is one of the best apps I ever downloaded and certainly helpful for becoming relatively fluent for conversation. Oh, and, could you add the flash card feature that is on the website? I think that would be helpful. EDIT: one more thing, I find it annoying how the category strength goes down simply by length of time since you practiced any of the inside lessons. It's irritating coming on and finding 4 or 5 of them no longer gold. It should be based on how well you did on a strength training, or on a current lesson you're practicing. Often I haven't forgotten any of the things they tell me I'm weak in.
Loved it! Easily the most productive language learning app out there! The slow and repetitive exercises, coupled with a competitive lingot based feature, makes it easier to grasp a new language.
Couldn't Be Better! And it is FREE! This app is perfection! It makes learning German so much fun. I actually look forward to using the app daily. It makes learning so easy and is fast as well. I like the ability to "refresh" past lessons I've learned, and the reminder keeps me on course. Rosetta...who? Thanks Devs over and over!
