Update January 2017: new year, new Garmin fitness tracker. Better than ever. Sync is working without a glitch, a good amount of onformation is formatted into Connect. I can use this device for running, too, because of the GPS and Connect picks up the route. All syncining between my phone, my wrist and the desktop occurs like magic. I ha e been critical of Garmon's apps, bit can now say they have me up with the Garmin devices in quality and functionality. Glad I stuck with you Garmin/Connect. LAST REVIEW: Garmin has improved the software experience considerably over the last year. It's almost as good as the device itself.
Total dud on Galaxy S5 App will not load from the main screen; never get the chance to enter login info. The app seems to run on the new IOS but who cares? I have an Android device. It also seems to run on my galaxy tablet. But again, who cares! What's the point if it doesn't run on the CORRECT device? Come on Garmin, get it together. Would love to see this remedied. Then I could actually use my new Vivosmart HR as it was intended. If Garmin sees fit to get involved I will be happy to re-evaluate my review.
Have been using it for the past year. It's stable & reliable. It's nicely designed and easily navigated. But I would like to ask for a few things. 1) It's a shame that you need an internet connection for the fenix 3 to sync with the app. Can the sync between the fenix 3 and the app be separated from the sync between the app and the internet? 2) I believe it would be a nice addition to be able to view data from the watch live on the smartphone screen. For example while running on a runway you could have heart rate displayed on your fenix and a heart rate plot on your smartphone screen. Or while on a bicycle you could have a speedometer on the phone, or a map, or calories etc. Or while training with a trainer your trainer could have the phone and monitor the activity levels and tell you what to do. There are many uses, and if possible it would be a great addition to the already great functionality.
Initial install of app was a bit awkward as would not work without Android Webview update.... (Would be good if these were easily to find tip on Garmin web page maybe??) however, speed of feedback from app developers pretty impressive !! :) Now app installed, looks pretty funky and looking forwards to using it with new device.
Fitness tracking at its best The combination of this app and one or more of the newer devices that upload workouts using Bluetooth let's me keep track of my workouts. Although I usually use the web app when looking at results, I use the mobile app when away from home. Garmin makes frequent updates and this app continues to improve.
Nice info retainer. It holds info really well and keeps track for days. Only downfall is there is nothing other than the live track through email to track friends activity through the day. Only thing you can see is steps. I want to be able to see heart rate and intensity minutes and info like that. Its good info to help you motivate friends.
Minor bug fixes and stability updates.
