Changed review after speaking with garmin technician. The fmcsa requires eld's to register @ 5mph. Once we can group logs into an email I will give 5 stars. Thankyou Garmin, I didnt want an eld, but you provided a great product when the Government forced it on me.
Very easy to use. However, I'd like the ability to view my recap hours. Since using the app I have yet to actually need my recap hours but, from time to time I do necessitate the need for the recap. From reading the reviews, I'm seeing the app does not have the ability to track or apply recap hours. This needs to be clarified, and if necessary fixed.
I just installed this tpday. I switched from rand McNally which is absolutely horrific. So far so good . It stays connected it's decent. But..GARMIN !!! SWITCH THE MAXIMUM UNREGISTERED SPEED FROM 5 MPH TO 15 OR 20 miles per hour. So I can move in the yard or truck stop. Every other elog device has minimum 15 miles per hour. I'll update it later, hopefully Garmin will change this. Compared to the Rand McNally`s software this is 10 times better and it hasn't been freezing my tablet. Will update.
I've been using it for a month now and all is well except for the milage driven. Some days it is accurate and others it's way off. This problem needs to be fixed. Changing review to 3 stars until this problem is resolved
Garmin your killing me. As a former Ford tech I know a little bit about modules, communications and the can network. Called in before buying to make sure this would work with my 01 7.3 excursion. They said it absoutly would, I would just need to research and buy the 9 pin to obd2 cable. Found a very smart guy in texas to make the plug for me. As soon as I got it, powered everything up and only had error messages. Spent over an hour on the phone with someone from Garmin only to be told that it's now incomparable for some reason but know one knew why. Suspected the connector. Called the guy from Texas to pick his brain and he actually had some answers for me. The module networking and multiplexing works completely differently from the heavy duty trucks compared to obd2. Size and speed of the messages shared across the high speed CAN is completely different and will not work. I tried calling back to garmin see if the ELD is capable of reading ISO15765 or even just a basic wiring diagram to find out what it needs to see to work. I was told it's Proprietary. Great stone wall approach to customer service. I was most shocked that they had zero answers about light duty trucks. I'd be happy to change my review if someone can give me a slightly better answer then "it's proprietary".
It's and ok app... only thing I dislike is dat u shouldn't b forced to take a 30min break when the device tells u... u r allowed to take a 30min break whenever! Not just after the first 8hr. THIS IS AN ERROR AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.... UNTIL ITS FIX OR UPDATED, I RECOMMEND NY1 LOOKING FOR A ELD DEVICE DON'T PURCHASE DIS 1! SEEK ELSEWHERE!
