The Google Gemini app is an AI assistant that can help supercharge your creativity and productivity.

This official app is free. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:

- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarize and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Generate images on the fly
- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights

If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

Gemini is getting better, and it does fine telling you what to text to your friends because you can't be bothered to actually do it yourself. Can it set alarms, though, or look up directions or turn off your lights or play music for you? Absolutely not. And why should it?! It's just a language model! ...except it must replace Assistant as your "AI Assistant". But it's not an Assistant; it's just a language model...and it's not particularly good at that. ...unless you need it to text.

Still a shoddy, incomplete product. This really should have been a standalone app for AI-based features, rather than a horribly executed, crippled replacement for Assistant. Some of the search and summary features etc are nice, but not at the expense of everything else. This may eventually be good, but it's nowhere near that yet.

the most impressive and intelligent application of artificial intelligence combined with human behavior! I do think that the voice to text interface is weak and also it enters text by itself when you're still thinking. other than that I could not be more impressed language model had more range of function but I think that we should take these things just as we are. Slow N Steady

What's new

You can now use your voice to set reminders and calendar entries with the Gemini app if your Workspace extension is turned on in your Gemini app settings. Now when you ask for directions Gemini will automatically start navigation with Google Maps.

We updated voice commands to include auto submit. No need to hit the 'send' button anymore.
